Columbia University’s National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP), in the
Mailman School of Public Health, is seeking a Project Coordinator / Data Manager to
work in its research division. The NCDP is a CDC-funded Center for Public Health
Preparedness, involved in such research projects as a longitudinal cohort study of
Katrina-impacted populations in the Gulf Coast, measuring and mapping social
vulnerability, and national surveys of citizen preparedness. The successful candidate for
this position will be involved in a number of data-oriented tasks, and will be expected to
manage survey research data, program data tracking and computer-assisted interview
systems, develop quality assurance protocols, tabulate research data results, conduct
detailed literature reviews, and assist in research proposal development and journal article
writing. Qualified applicants should have a Masters of Public Health or equivalent
degree, familiarity with methods and tools of social science research, knowledge of
statistical programs such as Stata, knowledge of Computer Assisted Personal Interview
software, experience with hierarchical databases, and experience with field-based survey
research studies. The successful candidate should also have experience and interest in
disaster research and social vulnerability research. NCDP is looking to fill this position
